Privacy Policy

Impact Connect helps nonprofits, volunteers, donors and companies find each other and get work done. This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It follows India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).

The short version

We collect only what a feature needs to work.
We never sell your information. Ever.
Impact Connect is free for nonprofits, volunteers and donors.
Forms ask for your consent before you submit anything.
Nothing you submit goes public until it has been reviewed.
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your information at any time.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you fill a form - for example joining as a volunteer, posting a need, or sending a message - we collect the fields you fill in, such as your name, email address, phone number, organisation name and what you wrote.

Information saved on your own device. Some features, like History and saved filters, store data only in your browser (local storage). This stays on your device and is not sent to us unless you choose to save or submit it.

Usage information. We keep simple, privacy-friendly analytics: which pages are opened and roughly how often. This helps us see what is useful. We do not use advertising trackers and we do not build advertising profiles.

Technical logs. Like most websites, our servers keep basic logs (such as the time of a request and whether it worked) to keep the service secure and to fix problems. We keep these logs for up to one year.

Why we use it

To run the feature you used - for example, to pass your message to an organisation or to review a listing you submitted.
To review submissions before anything is published.
To keep the platform safe and prevent misuse.
To answer your questions and handle complaints.
To improve Impact Connect, using overall usage patterns, not individual profiles.

Your consent

Every form that collects personal information shows a clear notice about what we are asking for and why, and asks you to agree before you submit. If you do not agree, please do not submit the form - the rest of the site still works.

What we never do

We never sell your personal information.
We never share your personal information with advertisers.
We never show your private messages or submissions publicly.
We never collect or process payments or donation money - donations and payments happen on the organisation's or provider's own official website.

When information is shared

With the organisation you chose to contact. If you send a message or sign up to volunteer, the organisation receives what you wrote so it can respond.
Public listings, after review. Some submissions (for example an event or a volunteering need) are meant to be public. These are published only after review, and only the listing content is shown - not your private contact details.
Service providers. We use a small number of infrastructure providers (hosting and email delivery) to run the service. They process data only to provide that service to us.
Legal requests. If a court or a lawful government order requires information, we may have to provide it.

Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you can ask us to:

show you what personal information we hold about you,
correct or update it,
erase it (for example deleting a saved account or submission),
withdraw consent you gave earlier,
raise a grievance and have it answered.

To use any of these rights, visit our My Data page - it has a simple request form for each right. We acknowledge requests within 24 hours, aim to resolve them within 15 days, and always answer within the 90 days the law allows.

Children

Impact Connect is for people aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, please use the platform only through a parent or guardian.

Security and breaches

We use standard technical and organisational measures to protect information. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Big changes will also be announced inside the app.
